This extremely extensive managed woodland plays host to our Bushcraft Camps. From ash, oaks, beeches and limes to evergreen Wester Red Cedar’s, this abundant environment has much to explore.

There’s a wide range of outdoor activities, available at Boughton all designed to enhance social and personal development, whilst having fun and learning new skills.

Our team will work with you to create a bespoke programme to suit your student’s ages and abilities, keeping them busy from the moment they arrive. Some of our favourites on offer are: Fire Lighting, Shelter Building, Camouflage and Concealment, Target Sports, Scenario SOS and many more!

WHAT’S IT LIKE STAYING AT BOUGHTON WOODS

It’s a real outdoor adventure

Situated in the heart of the woodlands, each camp comprises of a large yurt and cosy campfire for mealtimes and talks, its own field kitchen, and safari-style bell tents to sleep in. There’s also single-sex porta-loos and on longer camps showers are also available.

Our Bushcraft Camps are run by a team of experienced instructors, who will remain with your group and take care of the activities, mealtimes and pastoral care for your students for the entirety of their stay.

Boughton is situated off the A43, three miles north of Kettering, making it an easy journey for schools based in Northamptonshire and the surrounding counties.

How do I make a booking?

We’d love to talk to you about booking one of our adventures, please contact us to discuss your plans and our team will be able to draw up a programme to suit your students.

We haven’t been to Bushcraft before, can we have a look around a site?

Yes, teachers can visit all our estates to get a feel for where the camps will take place. We recommend visits take place between May and October, as this gives you a chance to see what our estates look like when they’re running. In the winter, our woodlands look glorious however our camps and activities sites are all packed down! Please contact us and we can happily arrange a time for you to visit.

What Accreditations does The Bushcraft Company hold?

As an organisation that works with young people we are inspected by, and are members of a number of governing bodies, which include: British Activity Provider Association (BAPA) , The Council for Learning Outside the Classroom (LOTC), Adventuremark, Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and Institute for Outdoor Learning (IOL).

What qualifications/certifications do your staff have?

All staff are required to pass enhanced DBS checks, and also have a great deal of experience of working on camps of this kind. Every staff member receives extensive in-house training, as well as obtaining qualifications from national governing bodies for specialised activities, including archery and swimming. There are multiple first aid trained members at each estate, and our Field Cooks have food hygiene certificates. Throughout the year our staff are regularly monitored, and we have a full time Safeguarding officer on hand to ensure that every child is kept safe.
