While planning an outdoor residential school trip can be exciting and rewarding, it is can sometimes become a tiresome and tedious task for busy teachers. So, what steps do you need to take to make your planning and preparation easier? We’ll cut to the chase – at The Bushcraft Company we do almost all the work for you. Once you’ve chosen which camp you’re visiting we’ll prepare an itinerary of activities, kit lists and risk assessments, all you need to do is get here!
There’s no need to use up your valuable time researching what activities to do on your residential – when you come on a Bushcraft trip we’ll sort this out for you. We have a range of exciting and diverse Bushcraft activities that will challenge and engage your students. You just have to turn up – we’ll create an itinerary of different activities each day, along with all the entertainment.
We will provide you with a kit-list with all the essentials that students need to bring on camp. And don’t worry – it is not a huge list of niche and hard to find equipment, it contains the basics for an adventurous trip in the woodlands (think water bottles and clothes that can get muddy).
We understand that food makes up a huge part of your experience on residentials, after all it fuels you for all your activities! This is why we take care to prepare healthy, nutritious and tasty food on camp, including the snacks and campfire treats. On top of this, we cater to all dietary needs and requirements, so you don’t need to worry about allergies, intolerances or fussy eaters.
Safety is paramount and everyone on camp should be reassured that all proper safety measures and procedures are in place to ensure that all can enjoy the fun without the worry. We provide a full risk assessment to your school so you can understand the risks and what we have done to minimise and abate them.
Responsible outdoor travel involves being mindful of the impact we have on the environment. On camp, we educate students about practicing Leave No Trace principles, which include minimizing waste, disposing of it appropriately, and respecting wildlife and their habitats.
There’s no doubt that parents will be keen to understand what their children will be up to on camp, which is why we run parents evening webinars as well as having resources for you to send to parents.
